Edencare is open to any Ghanaian resident or legally resident foreign national. Whether you are an individual, a freelancer, a small business owner, a retiree, an expatriate, or a semi-formal worker — there is a plan designed for your life. Families, companies with small staff sizes, and informal sector workers are all equally welcome.
You can add your spouse, your children, your parents and in-laws, and extended family members as dependants on your policy. You also have the option to take out a policy solely for a dependant — you do not have to include yourself to cover the people who matter to you.
The standard maximum entry age is 65 years. Applicants above this threshold are welcome to apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to individual assessment. All prospective members, regardless of age, complete a health declaration as part of the enrollment process.
Before your cover begins, Acacia Health Insurance conducts an individual risk assessment to understand your current health status and medical history. This typically involves completing a health declaration form and disclosing any pre-existing conditions. In some cases, a medical examination may be required. If your application is approved, cover commences based on your sign-up date and full payment. If it is not approved, you will be notified in writing with the reasons.
For most services, your cover is active almost immediately. Members who sign up between the 1st and 15th of the month start cover the same month. Members who sign up between the 16th and 31st have cover starting on the 1st of the following month.
Please note: a 10-month waiting period applies specifically to pregnancies, antenatal care, and elective surgeries.
Yes. You can add a dependant within 90 days of your original sign-up date. Any new dependant joining after your initial enrolment will also go through the individual risk assessment process.
Yes. If you decide you want a higher level of cover, you can upgrade to a higher tier within 90 days of your sign-up date. Upgrades are only available within this window, so it is worth considering your long-term needs before that period closes.
Yes. You may submit a written cancellation request to Acacia Health Insurance within 90 days of enrolment, provided you have not used your cover. A 20% management fee applies to all approved cancellations. Cancellations are not permitted after the 90-day window. Approved refunds are processed within 30 working days of receiving your written request.
Edencare offers three plan tiers — Essential, Enhanced, and Elite. All three cover both in-patient and out-patient services. The difference lies in the scale of your annual benefit:
• Essential gives you solid, foundational cover — dependable care for everyday health needs.
• Enhanced expands those limits for greater peace of mind across a wider range of services.
• Elite offers the most comprehensive cover, designed for individuals and families who want maximum protection year-round.
A consultant can help you determine which tier best fits your circumstances.
Yes. The core service categories — out-patient consultations, in-patient admissions, prescribed medications, dental, optical, physiotherapy, specialist care, diagnostics, maternity, and emergency cover — are available across all three tiers. What differs is the annual benefit limit: how much Acacia will cover within a policy year. Higher tiers come with higher annual benefit ceilings.
Edencare plans are paid annually and in full. Payment must be confirmed before your cover commences — there is no monthly instalment option. Contact our sales team or visit the website to get your personalised premium quote.
