"Ghana Month" or "Heritage Month", is a time to celebrate the country's rich culture, traditions, and history. At Transitions, we embraced this national celebration by organizing a Grand Durbar under the theme "Demystifying Funerals," —a unique and deeply symbolic aspect of Ghanaian culture.

To bring the theme to life, we hosted a Ga cultural troupe that performed an engaging and informative drama depicting the funeral rites of a royal fisherman. The performance took the audience through the various ceremonial steps, highlighting:

• The role of traditional leaders and family elders in funeral preparations.
• The significance of the "Adea" (lying-in-state) and the specific customs observed.
• The role of Asafo groups in paying last respects.
• The symbolic drumming, dancing, and gun salutes that mark the transition of a departed soul to the ancestral world.

The event also provided an opportunity to challenge misconceptions about funerals in Ghana, particularly within the Ga community. Many perceive traditional funerals as overly extravagant or mysterious, yet they remain a vital part of cultural continuity and identity.
